What is a Swing Bed?
Sometimes patients aren’t quite ready to go home after their initial treatment in the hospital for an illness, injury or surgery. While they no longer need fulltime, acute care, they do need periodic nursing care and monitoring of their condition. Mid-Valley Hospital’s Swing Bed Program provides this additional level of care for patients as they recover and continue healing.
Features of Mid-Valley’s Swing Bed Program
- Rehabilitation after a stroke, heart attack, injury, or illness
- Post-surgical care, especially following knee and hip replacement or other orthopedic procedures
- In-hospital speech, respiratory and physical therapy
- IV medication and antibiotics for pain control
- Wound care
